Biography

Alberto Chiozzi was born in Verona, Italy, in 1988 and began to study drums at age of 12.

At the age of 15 years old, he became a permanent drummer of the "Doo-Dat jazz Big Band" directed by the American trumpeter Kyle Gregory.

Between 2004 and 2005 he participated in the jazz specialization class held by the Vicenza pianist Danilo Memoli.

In 2006 he began to frequent the workshops held by the American pianist Barry Harris, an authentic living legend of jazz, in the cities of Verona, Rome and The Hague.

His long career as a drum teacher began in 2008. Over the years he has worked in many prestigious music schools gaining extensive experience as a music and drums teacher

In 2009 he had the opportunity for the first time to go to New York. There he had the opportunity to meet some of the world's best drummers like Jimmy Wormworth, Keith Balla, Fukushi Tainaka, Taro Okomoto, Clifford Barbaro and others.

In 2011 Alberto graduated from the University of Padua and decided to become a full-time musician

The following years he participated in numerous international festivals such as Eddie Lang Jazz festival in Molise or Sconfinando jazz in the Marches and he returned several times to the United States. In these years an important collaboration begins with Luca Pisani, one of the best bass players on the international scene, who will deeply influence his style.

In 2014 he recorded the album of Alberto Benicchi "Be-Bop Boys". In the same year he was invited to take part of the international workshop "Tetracordo".

The next year he has the opportunity to play with Luigi Grasso during the International Fermo Saxophone Festival.

In 2016 he recorded the album "Grazia di Grace Meets the Bebop Cats", and he had the privilege of playing in different groups led by guitarist Pasquale Grasso and participates in several workshops held by the American drummer Joe Farnsworth.

In 2017 he joined the swing band "Sweet Peanuts" specializing in music for lindy hop dances.

The following year he recorded "Blue Monday" his first record as a leader. The album, produced by EUritMUS RECORDS, received excellent feedback from music critics, and music lovers.

In 2021 Alberto moved to New York City where he began working with some of the most important musicians on an international scale. In the same year he is hired by the singer Samara Joy for an international tour in Europe

Over the years Alberto has played in important clubs such as: Blue Note, Ronnie Scott's, Camera Jazz&Music Club in Europe, or Smalls, Fat Cat and Cleopatra's Needle in New York, or Pavlov and Kikker in Holland, and Chet Baker, Bravo Caffe`, Bentivoglio Winery in Bologna etc.

He has played with many musicians including Pasquale Grasso, Tom Kirkpatrick, Vahagn Hayrapepetyan, Luigi Grasso, Stefano Doglioni, Ari Roland, Luca Pisani, Oscar Zenari, Andrea Olivi, Robert Bonisolo, Paolo Birro, Alberto Benicchi, Marco Bovi, Peter Anderson, William Anderson, Beppe Pilotto, Diego Frabetti, Valerio Pontraldolfo, Nico Menci, Alex Milo, Clovis Nicolas, Andrea Papini, Danilo Memoli, and others.
